033 Not Funny

This series and this particular strip is inspired by Stephan Pastis' comic Pearls Before Swine. In his comics, he often includes himself in the strips with his characters telling him how lame his jokes are. I think that's funny, so I copied him. You might also notice that the Prophet Mouse and Rat even look alike. In my defense, I had no intentions of copying the design of Rat, there aren't too many ways to draw a mouse; it's either gonna look like Mickey or Rat whichever way you draw it.

It is nice having a hobby where people can leave you a comment on how much they hate what you do in your free time. With its dumb yet somewhat "smart" approach to the comedic arts, I suppose Prophet Buddy isn't for everyone. I have a very strange sense of humor and I am very thankful to those who get and appreciate it and I am very sorry for those who don't. At the end of the day, I'm very proud of Prophet Buddy. It doesn't matter to me what anyone thinks about it, as long as I'm happy with it, which I am. To show this, I wear my Prophet Buddy supershirt everyday, you should too! You should probably also throw on some clean underwear while you're at it! The Buddies have expressed to me how much the viewers on the internets don't find the series funny and think it is stupid, so here is my attempt on making it funny and intelligent, enjoy!

NEXT WEEK IS THE SEASON FINALE!!!!!!!

I think it was a mistake to acknowledge the haters by making an episode that refers to them. By doing so you give them power.

It's the internet, what do you expect? Frankly I love this series, and I hope comments like this won't stop you from doing it, especially if it's something you love. It's nearly impossible to make every episode a gem, anyway, but people get pretty defensive if anything is "below par." I get hatemail all the time about my cartoons and while not ALL of it should be ignored (occasionally they might include some actual constructive criticism), ya gotta take it with a grain of salt. Like I said, it's the internet. And on the internet, people either really love things, or really hate it; there's no in between. I think Prophet Buddy appeals more to fellow animators as well, rather than just the average person looking for a cartoon to watch. I enjoy watching your different expressions and takes with your characters. Anyway, I say stick it to them, and keep up the cartoons! Looking forward to the season finale!

Hey Buddy! Keep on Prophet-ing! Your strips are rad. Great animation, great design, and a guaranteed good time.

What will Mondays be like after the season finale? I guess its back to re-runs until Season 3.

Hi Eric,
I first saw your prophet buddy cartoons on Josh's blog, they r really funny and I couldnt stop laughing.

The thing I like about internet is the direct interaction with the audiences. It is like a box office, you see how well your show sells right away. or it is like in the theater, you are an actor on the stage, you can see your audiences' reaction right away. When the networks are so much under giant companies control, internet is a breath of fresh air to me. a place the artists can communicate with the audiences right away.

And of course if there are ppl liking your work, there will be ppl bashing about it.but good works often cause arguments. So i guess it is not a bad thing? But at the end of the day, you are the one who can leave or take watever they say.

just for the record, I really like your work. Not really my style, but they are very beautiful work. keep working on it!!
